the East Coast has had as many names storms make landfall as the Gulf Coast has?

A large portion of the east coast is in what most call "the south." rarely do hurricanes land above Virginia.

To be fair, most of the east coast is under the mason dixon line..

I live in west palm. It's going to be 48 tomorrow morning. They might cancel school here for the cold.

only an extremely small percentage of "the south" is susceptible to hurricane damage.

The person I was responding to was from Florida and pimping Florida so I'd say the percentage susceptible is the entire fricking State.

Further, if you're talking about south, that would include the bottom halves of Louisiana, Bama and Mississippi too. The top half of Louisiana ain't "south."

I think you'll find a major disparity in the strength of the storms that make it up there. Their hurricanes are about like our snowstorms if you will.
Sandy- 53 deaths
Katrina, Andrew, Camille, and dozens of others... death toll? hundreds for most, thousands for some.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the east coast gets as much damage as the south from hurricanes....just showing that they do have hurricanes hit...some that do cause severe damage and deaths.

Sorry to bust your bubble on being so proud about hurricanes affecting only the South

bottom half? That's a bit much. How about 90 miles inland?

There are only a few bohemian cultures in the USA.

they are centers of art, music, dance, major universities and people of all races are pretty much accepted.

They are all in the north.
Boston harvard. bohemian area near Harvard.
NYC first class opera, symphonies, Columbia, NYU, every cultural artifact known to man.
Philadelphia Penn, an area near Penn, 2nd class citizen to NY, but pretty good
Washington DC Dupont circle all the arts you can shake a stick at
Pittsburgh Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, Shadyside, decent art.
Chicago SECOND ONLY TO NYC. NW, U of Chicago. entire north side is bohemian, all the major dance companies have their home base there. opera, a great symphony.
SF UC-Berkeley, Stanford, gay rights, women in positions of power, opera, a good symphony, and several minor symphonies, film and music. a teeny house costs a million bucks. that's what you get when you have all that culture and no snow.

That's it.

SF is the only one where it does not snow. Property values are through the roof.

UC-SF was not on my list of top schools, but in medicine its right up there. a few nobel prizes.

LOL what bubble? That was my first remark on the subject and I only stated that getting light rainfall doesn't count. Take a chill pill nurse, you probably have plenty of them.
