I usually tip well unless they suck, so I basically agree that it's a myth that good servers get tipped more. Another problem I have with tipping is the women get tipped more because they have boobs. The guy usually pays, and guys usually are attracted to girls.

The real problem with tipping is that shitty people who don't tip get food at decreased price by the expense of the good people who do tip.

Then you're insane. If tipping didn't exist and every waiter got paid the same at every restaurant regardless of attitude or quality of service, the good waiters would quit and find a more lucrative job as their income would go down since tips are now artificially capped, and the service industry would flood with McDonald's counter workers.

If you get rid of tipping, wouldn't you pay all your staff the same amount?
That's what everyone here is bitching about, right? The owners should raise all the prices of their menus and pay the staff the same wage across the board.

Good to know. I also like tipping people who I'm not supposed to tip. If they kick arse and they have no reason to besides being hardworking, I like to give low paid employees a bit extra.

And then you do what is called "firing" and get rid of the shitty servers.
Seems pretty easy, plus there isn't exactly a shortage of people to work as waiters.

The people are generally better.
Things don't work the same in the US as they do in Europe. Not at all for a number of social, cultural, and economic reasons.

Like a restaurant manager is going to grade each of his employees performance and adjust their wages based on that. Yall have lost your minds. In some fantasy society this works, but not in real current America.
