I remember being slightly caught off guard the first time I heard it (many years ago), I guess because it was different from what I was used to ... and maybe it did strike me as overtly religious.
Ok, you a have some context to understand my reaction.

They’re not asking if you know Jesus, or trying to get you to convert — they’re wishing for you to encounter things that are positive and valuable to you. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about Christianity either.
I disagree. If you read the responses to my original post and my relies, it's possible you understand why I'm not convinced this is the case. There's nothing offensive about "Have a blessed day." It's plausible that my flippant OP connotes offense. However, the original question was asked mostly because I was curious and bored.

Assuming your question is genuine
It was.

all I can say is try not to read anything more into it than somebody trying to succinctly wish you a really, really, really nice day.
Fair enough. I didn't read anything into "Have A Nice Day," beyond it being another way to say "Have A Good Day." I was and still am curious as to what motivated the change in wording of the salutation. Reading the responses I have a pretty good idea but I'm willing to listen if anyone wants to share their feedback.
