And it doesn’t help that people coming off 10 dgaf and will not even think of slowing down or changing lanes to let you in.
It really is a civil engineering head scratcher
Because they have the right of way and you don't.
Plus if you need to exit after the split why should you be in the furthest left lane?

This is the earliest satellite shot of that area I can find, and it seems crazy that they would have designed such an odd, curvy, entrance all because one tree.
It's because of the limited land space for the clover leaf... Back then, they would've cut the damn tree down...

Why is the I-610 overpass at St. Bernard banked the wrong way? Heading westbound the road takes a left turn and it isn't nearly banked enough or flat. It should be noticeably higher in the right lane and accordingly lower in the left. Poor engineering.

This. I pass there every day, in traffic. Rarely going more than 60. Stupid mother frickers still can’t accelerate and merge. I’ll let off the gas, but usually the idiot has shite for timing (and brains) and slows down too. I’m not stopping on the fricking interstate. How hard is it to hit the gas and be ready to slow down or speed up more as necessary?
