Never understood this, I had heard a while back about it having something to do with surveyors mistake. still doesn't make a lick of sense. Why cant we just fix this shite, there are places all over the the US with similar mistakes. There will be an adjustment period obviously, but it would make things better in the long run IMO.

The Louisiana Legislature created Iberia Parish in 1868. Surveyor made a large error while laying it’s dimensions out and it wasn’t readily discovered until after the fact.
Sometimes that didn’t appear to work out, however.
