Why do you think its an idiotic thought? I guaranty you some people who have jumped to commit suicide have second thoughts before hitting the ground. If that hurts your feelings then this thread isn't for you.

I think that in the OP I should have stressed more the fact that skydiving could have a great therapeutic effect as an activity. Especially if they have to go through classes and multiple tandem jumps. Couple that with the new perspective they may receive being involved in an activity that brings them so close to death, by the time they are ready to jump by themselves, suicide might not even be an option.

I got where you were going with it right away. I think the post hits too close to home for a few.

You are clearly not thinking about this from a perspective of a suicidal person, but from the perspective of a normal, healthy person.

If someone has already made a decision to perform an action, why would they try to talk themselves out of it?

someone would still think it was an accident

Because that's what happens much of the time. Do you really think that suicidal people come to that decision easily, and don't have second thoughts?

I went once at that place too. They told me that if it was your first time you were required to dive tandem with an instructor.

Not that I would have done it solo anyway. frick that

It costs too much when you add up the gear, the plane, etc.

My thought process is if the person is faced with a life or death situation then they may find out how much life is worth it to them.

I'll never understand why people try to stop them from killing themselves. Let them!

Suicidal people should sign up for badass military missions for America. The kind where they call it a "suicide mission," like in the rmovies. Then style on all the enemies until it's Game Over.

Ok, but if they've made the decision to commit suicide because they don't value their life, why would you assume they have the foresight to participate in an activity that shows them appreciation for life?

You project that thought process because you value life and it's obviously a common thing for most people. But that's not how suicidal people think or feel

You are brushing suicidal people with a broad stroke. Every case is unique and many of them are on the fence about their decision. These people can be helped.

I'm not saying they can't be helped. But someone who is depressed and questioning whether or not they should continue existing is not exactly about to make a bunch of inspirational decisions.

I think that many depressed people who have considered suicide are constantly trying new things to make their lives better.
