There is a huge difference logistically along with the capability of the guide/porters between a 2 week hike up a trail to 5300 meters and a 2 month climb up a mountain to 8850 meters. Plus the permit alone for 2024 was about $11,000 to climb above base camp. It goes up to $15k next year.
