When you take the emotional attachment people have towards these dogs, set it aside and look at the issue from strictly a logical standpoint based on facts, you have to face these three things.
1. Pits can be great pets and a loving part of the family.
2. Pits can snap at any time and attack people.
3. Unlike most other breeds of dogs, a pit attack usually at best leaves massive wounds requiring reconstructive surgery or at worst, kills the victim.
The question you have to ask yourself about the pit bull is this: Is having #1 worth risking #2 & #3?

What's a good trade off for these lunatic pitbull lovers? Raise 300 pits and only one mauls, maims and kills a person, is that acceptable?

Or maybe it’s because they’re more prone to kill than the other breeds despite making a very small portion of dogs owned.
