No, you are completely ignorant of reality, and I honestly envy you for that. A distorted view is the only way any of us really live.

Yea it is.
It feels good and chicks dig it.
It really is that simple........ At first anyways.
Right, it alters your reality. Without it you can't feel good (altered reality). Without it, the reality is that chicks can't dig you (whatever that means) unless you're someone different, in a different reality, than when you're sober.

Yes, to alter your reality.
What about West Monroe?

Definitely. I think most do.

Does everyone who drinks do that because they're trying to alter painful reality?
I do LSD when I want that.

This is the flawed premise I'm talking about.
Yeah, people do it to feel good, but that does not mean that they can't feel good without it. This zero-sum game you're playing is disingenuous, at best.
I enjoy partaking in alcoholic beverages from time to time, and yes, I feel good when doing so.
But I also get an incredible high from working out and having sex. Adrenaline alters your reality. Orgasms alter your reality. But I'm not stupid enough to insinuate that I can't live or function in a reality where those things aren't happening.

Ok, I can't respond to everyone, too many of you are upset with the reality of this thread.
We'll try it again in several months.
Thanks for your responses and a big thanks to those who were open and honest about their ingestion of mind altering substances.
Peace.

There's plenty of people that don't drink, "live in reality" and are miserable. There's people that drink daily and are truly content with life. I'm not getting the OP's premise.

He's convinced people get drunk because they hate their life and not because they love Jim Beam.

Drink more. It makes it easier to tolerate.
