Thrice death came,
And thrice death his debt demanded.
The lot was cast, and I cheated death.
He came on the ides of march and took one far more valuable than I, a son beyond price.
I failed. I was my brother's keeper and I failed.

Because it's fun, obviously. Not that there aren't sober, fun activities to do, but what else are young people supposed to do on most weekend nights?

Weeknights too.

There's a higher and more intelligent power than you or me.

I'm in the last years of my life and over the decades I've helped and hurt others, succeeded and failed, been good and bad. Regrets, of course. But the master planner is still the master planner, the potter, the beginning and the end. In the finality of life, we are simply clay in the hands of the potter.

winner. I would have become an alcoholic if I was still married.

It's not that bad. I haven't had a kid in the house for 4 years now so I have started drinking and smoking marijuana a lot more. Hell our marriage is strong as ever to be honest with you. I'm gonna retire in the next 3-4 years and I'll only be 54 so I can't wait for the next phase of our lives.

You're created special, valuable, a jewel. It's hard to view oneself as such when pain and suffering is part of one's life though. Saying I understand does not mean I understand, but I do emphasize with you. Living life can surely painful at times, no doubt about that.
