I am not sure about society but for me personally(I will exclude any people who lived fit/turned 60 and said frick it)
they drive up prices on food, consumable goods, health insurance, etc. through their unhealthy lifestyles and make society help pay for their bad decision making.
they like most of the things my innerfat kid loves but refuse to work it off/practice moderation making them very unpleasant to look at. However we live in a modern PC utopia where their virus can spread without borders or guilt.
They feel compelled to show you those gulf ball dimples/cellulite and tell you how natural and sexy their triple chin is. They think athletic, thick, curves, and whale are all the same size/thing which is why they tend to idolize Kim K and Marilyn Monroe(never Rosie O Donnell) because these women are all comparable.
They want to be accommodated with wheel chair ramps and motorized scooters for every day activities like walking.
They want to skinny shame people for working out, and create excuses for themselves like a faulty metabolism. Get your arse up and move around jackarse. Nobody can live off fast food and milkshakes.
Obesity is not a disease for most of the people who live with it. It is a lifestyle choice and one I do not sympathize with most for inflicting upon themselves. Just like no one gives a crap if someone maxes out a credit card to buy electronics and struggles to pay back the debt.

This depends on culture and society.
Here in America I'd say that you are correct but in the poor places of Russia, Ukraine, etc the poster whose post you highlighted is correct as well. Obviously this isn't every case

My dad gave himself diabetes and lived most of his adult life with obesity. A doctor told him the damage he was doing to himself and his new projected timetable to live based on that lifestyle. He modified some of his eating habits and lost 100 pounds.
Before that he was killing himself and taking years off his life. I am not sure what the longterm damage is but for it to get as far as it did I can assure you I have already been robbed out of prime years with a man I adore.
I am not melting as much I would be pissed if someone I loved was a chain smoker, drug addict, or something to that effect. Obesity has some very scary long term effects and depending on your situation in life it could have a very adverse effect on the people you love.
Not everyone has medical insurance and not everything is covered even if you do. Is it fair for a family member to pass on medical debt to you because of their lifestyle?
