Everyday people can afford to go to Antarctica if they want to go badly enough, I did it in 2004 it cost me about $8000.00. Today the trip with Abercrombe and Kent who furnish nothing but high end travel packages runs $16,000.00, if you want to go with cheaper tour operators it can probably still be done for under 10 grand.
