Presentation, full stop.

It always hurts my heart to leave meat in the tail because I'm cutting it instead of picking it up like a Neanderthal.

It is a handle, so you don’t have to touch the food part.

Did your mama chew up and spit it out for you to eat like a baby bird?

I go to restaurants so I can eat and enjoy myself. Not so I have to do menial labor like a commoner

Yeah but restaurants do it pasta too. Pain in the arse to.get the tail off while you're eating pasta.

But why would you be touching the food in your salad, pasta, etouffee, etc?

It makes the shrimp look nicer on the plate as well as making them look larger. The shell also adds some flavor.

There are ways to get the flavor of the shell without serving wet dishes with shells still on the shrimp. They don’t even give you a side plate for the shells. It’s like they’re entirely unaware they’re giving you a dish you have to stick your hands into and peel.

Kind of like middle eastern people leave the balls on a butchered goat. It is a sign of freshness, and not frozen from a bag.

They don’t know any better and are using frozen shrimp in “ shorts”. Wrong product. “ shorts” are for frying only. It is left on for presentation. I peel mine all the way.

No, brother. You are doing it wrong. You squeeze the back side of the tail and that extra meat slides right out.

You're welcome.
