Scrolling social media for content that they intend to use to Tweet or text as soon as possible. My argument is that you have successfully identified some components of the overall process that I describe. My point is that the human beings are doing the things that you describe, but the ultimate purpose is to interact with their social cell. They are bored BECAUSE they are NOT interacting with their social cell at that moment. So they risk their lives in order to facilitate that social interaction which they are programmed by their primate DNA to require.

Then, their hope is, later that day, to interact physically with a desirable, physically-present and live specimen for sexual gratification purposes -- at least that's how I roll.

I need to break this habit. I do it too much. I don't need to look at phone to type.
I don't hold phone up in front of me either.
Still in all it's partially distracting.
There have been times when I was messaging, or on here or whatever and had to stop because of an idiot in front of me driving crazy while texting. I would get upset and then think about what I was doing.

Doesn't really work for me. If you got into an accident while you were typing this as indicated by the cut-off sentence... THEN HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO HIT SUBMIT???????

I do not appreciate your ruse.

Don't be so nerdy. Just go with the urge to socially interact. Why not be like the other apes in the group?

Ha, just kidding.
