For me it’s because I’m an introvert who just wants stay home and be left alone and this virus gives me hope. I would love to “work from home” for a month. Oh the pizza, Netflix and jacking off I’d do!

Why do people love this sort of drama so much?

Because we are hard-wired to fight and adjust to adversity. It's a survival/coping mechanism that has been with our species for ages.

We live in an age of unprecedented security and stability. So for many, the ancestral survival instincts of many are completely untapped or woefully under-developed.

Once something like this comes around, that little dormant part of their DNA fires off and suddenly they feel driven and with purpose -- driven by the instinct to survive.

Unfortunately, those people also have no discernible skill set for this type of event, so rather than prepare themselves to fight, they instead choose to embrace the fear and panic that these events spawn. They hope their fear and panic drives/pushes others to fight the battle.

The media feeds that fear and panic (as they always have and always will) and they cycle continues.

So you have people driven by fear seeking an echo chambers that justifies their fear while not actually helping themselves or the larger issue.

It's like that with a multitude of issues, not just COVID-19.

With this virus, it’s almost as if the media is hoping it spreads so they have something to freak out over

No different than the weather guys predicting 20" of rain and massive flooding for every little tropical rain event that comes our way every summer. It gets ratings
