Why are some service industries not expected to be open past regular 9-5 work hours?

Take banks, for example. Why are we ok with them operating while the vast majority of people are stuck at work and not able to utilise them more conviently?
Plus they are closed most of the weekend. And heaven forbid you deposit a check Friday afternoon.

Or why do grocery stores have like 10 checkout lines with only 1 or maybe 2 lanes open.

I wouldn't say we are ok with it but WTF are we supposed to do about it?
bank drive throughs used to stay open until 7pm so you can make a withdrawal or cash a check after work, now its all about you gotta go to the ATM and pay $2 service fee even from your own banks ATM or take off time during lunch to go to the bank
they use the excuse muh direct deposit and use the ATM

Still faster to use those two lanes than getting behind a boomer housewife at the self-checkout

You need to find a new bank

Not everybody can roll out of work and take the time to do that.

Do you not have a lunch break?

Yeah...used my bank app to deposit a check and it took 5 business days to go through.
Real fricking convenient.

That's probably more because of your balance/account history. Should clear next business day.

Because educated workers are more likely to take jobs with regular hours and a lot of the roles at these places require education.

You also should find a new bank. Chase takes 24 hours at the most

It was because the check was from a local bank and I use a National bank.

I haven’t been in a bank in over a decade.

Then that's because the funds are not as quickly validated. Which would happen if you deposited at a branch too.
