I started at 12. And did it for twenty years and eventually taught it. This was before the rise of jujitsu. Took me eight years to get my black belt, but that was due to a serious knee injury. Should have taken only five years. During that time I saw a lot of school given their student a black belt in two years or less. They would have a student test once a month or every two months.

The belt system is really bullshite and mostly to generate money. If I had to do it over again, I would still do the style I did because it was a lot of fun. But would also do jujitsu for more balance.

Sadly you see this so often now. The master our organization was under made you earn it. Took 6 years to earn a black belt in taekwondo under him. He was on the national team in Korea before coming to america in the 80’s. Hard old man that was not to be messed with. Took off and on for 6 years but life got too busy to get my black belt. Made it to candidate.

Tang Soo Do until my instructor murdered his father and attempted to murder his mother over a money dispute.
May have already said that in this thread when it was first posted a few years ago

Took Aikido for a while . Then I grew up and got a Glock because I'm to old for all that shite..
