Jeanerette police and trooper who patrols I-310, distrust both

JP confiscated a handgun from me. Aside from that my experiences with police have been pretty uneventful. Not much else besides a bunch of window tint tickets. Still would never talk to the police though.

Have told this story several times before.

Early Friday Morning, around 1 a.m. in downtown Honolulu. Girl I was talking to at the time worked as a bar tender. Came to pick her up, after work was over. The road is like 3-4 lanes one way through one of the back rocks, pull up outside of where she worked and was waiting for her to hop in, no different than a cab would. Cop pulls up beside me and says something, I have no idea what initially so through my window I say I apologize officer I didn't hear what you said. He then says something along the lines of "I'll beat your arse" or some craziness. I was pretty floored thinking what the frick is going on right now and just look forward while she gets in. We go to drive off and he pulls behind me and pulls me over. At some point says he wishes he didn't have his uniform on or some shite, don't remember the wording. Checks all my stuff and it's all good tries telling me that I was blocking traffic and he should arrest me with an attitude the whole time towards me. I am as cordial and easy with him as possible. He then hands back all my stuff and tells me I am free to go, so I start putting my items back insurance registration etc and he takes a few steps and then looks back to me and says I said you can go. No other backstory, no other craziness to it.

I don't know if he just wanted to pull me over assuming I may have been drinking since we were down by the bars and I was picking someone up, or if he thought I was trying to pick up a prostitute since there are a shite ton of them down there. It was pretty shitty though seeing that side of a police officer.

Growing up in small town Missouri we always heard the "pigs this and that etc" and I always thought how stupid that was. This was my first and only bad interaction with them, but it was enough to make me wonder.

I can honestly say I have never had a cop hassle me for no reason. I know that is not the case for some. But I am a good looking blonde haired, blue eyed guy. They don't usually hassle guys that look like me. I have black friends who have had much different experiences. I also don't generally do anything that would give a cop a reason to hassle me.

I don't think everybody has had a shitty run in with a police officer, but I think we've all seen someone or know someone who has so we are wary of it. Kinda like how we haven't all had a bad run in with a pit bull but we've seen stories of people who have and generally don't want to have the same experience.

It doesn't help that most of us have seen cops abusing their power on the TV show COPS, and that's supposed to be their flagship tv show showing what heroes they are.

There was a kid that was a few years younger than me. He hung out with a friend of mine who at 15 started using crack. I saw this other kid at 14 breaking down and shooting crack in his arm. He's robbing houses to feed his addiction to speed. I move away and come back, in a grocery store and this fricker comes up wearing a uniform and badge.

Was seriously like a clockwork Orange type of scenario. He was later dismissed from the force for stealing from evidence. Possibly used it, resold it and or planted it on people.

I was arrested and cited for a dui. I blew a .06. I broke no traffic laws. The judge dismissed the case.

I would say that qualifies. I wanted the cop put in jail for a year and was furious about it.

Shared a story here before about being harassed as well and my car searched by a dog for drugs because I was driving across I10 with out of state tags in an expensive car with tinted windows. Legally tinted in the state I lived.

Really? So driving a car full of white kids in a black neighborhood is a crime? Otherwise, by the cops own admission, we had done nothing wrong, and he therefore had no right to pull us over. How else would you define abuse of power?
