Most of the posts so far indicate that cold turkey is the way to go. I've been smoking for a little over 3 yrs. Started out smoking Turkish Silvers then moved to Marlboro Blacks. For about a year and a half I smoked anywhere from 15-pack a day. Felt awful and swapped to American Spirits. Worked my down to 10-15 day and for the last few months I'm hovering between 3-7 a day. I've used some nicorette gum, but mainly just convinced myself that cigs weren't worth it.
Any different advice for making that next leap and eliminating the 3-7 a day or is cold turkey still the best answer?

You've held on to those 3-7 cigarettes because they fit in your routine as a sort of ritual. Break that routine. Say for example, one of my routines was taking a walk around the block and smoking a cigarette about mid-afternoon. When I decided to quit, I still took my walks, but I walked a different route and tried to concentrate on finding new things along my new route. After a week or two I no longer needed the walk at all.

Definitely makes sense. I typically have one when I wake up, after meals/coffee, and then sometime at night.

I quit cold turkey after 16 years. It was a month before my first child was born. He is 15 now, and I am 30-35 pounds heavier. So I recommend looking ahead long term at how you might change eating and exercise habits over time. Think big picture.
