XANAX.. I have them on airplanes (Claustrophobia) and when stuck in traffic jams at times.
It does suck... The only good thing is the fact that after a couple episodes you realize they will pass and what they are.
Frick everyone else who is free of those bastards.

Makes for a not so nice life. I had panic attacks for about 3 years and was prescribed Zoloft for another issue, the panic attacks stopped. When I was having the attacks they most always occurred when I was driving.

Usually happens in the middle of the night. Wake up terrified and feeling like something bad is about to happen to me. Never had anything like this and out of the blue LY they hit and now I have daily.

Do you find yourself thinking about the attacks or anticipating them? Whether I did or not didn't matter. They still happened without warning. Best to see your PCP and that that bull by the horns!

I have had this occur twice. Once right as I stepped into an interview I had flown to. I was completely caught off guard and asked for a minute to get some water so I could try to calm down. The second was as I was stepping out to deliver a lecture before a small group of maybe 100 people. I had been in front of thousands with no problems before. I had to walk off stage, shake it off, then go back. As soon as I started talking, I was okay, but I'd never experience stage fright before and it was literally crippling.
Talked to my doctor and got some Xanax. I have delivered some glorious lectures and made some compelling presentations while taking just half a pill. It completely removes any inhibitions and makes you unafraid to take the audience in any direction or to tell a joke with dramatic delivery.

Do any of you have recurring attacks where you worry about specific things?

I was on meds for 3 years, stopped taking them bc of the drowsy side effects. Research methods to cope with your attacks. They're are hundreds of self help books on the subject and they were extremely helpful in my case. Good luck

Oh thanks.....yea, I dealt with this off and on. Fortunately things have been well lately. I think when I've had them recently it's been mostly due to lack of sleep/stress.
