I parlayed Jefferson and Orleans Parish.

Did anyone come out as against this amendment?

i think only 55 parishes voted yes, correct?

I don’t think it was an amendment. Just says if it becomes legal your parish can do it.

It passed in the BR metro by a lot. Which parishes voted against it?

I don’t even gamble, but it brings in revenue to the state, so not sure why it wasn’t allowed in the first place. Is it because people are addicted to it?

Realistically it probably won't generate that much money but there's no reason for it to be illegal. Same thing with casinos in Texas and the lottery in Alabama. Old Southern religious laws against gambling I suppose.

Only? That is far more than originally voted for video poker and 8 more than voted for fantasy in 2018. Most of the heavily populated parishes voted for it by a wide margin. Statewide, I think it was 60% voted for.

None.

So what is next.
Does it go back to the legislature for the rules and regulations?
Or will Draft Kings and William Hill setup shop in every video poker casino, land and river boat casinos, and sports bars with video poker in the parishes that approved it?

Its just a statement that lets the Louisiana legislature come up with a legalization and taxation bill in 2021. Those bills could fail like fantasy sports did, and we could still have no sports wagering until 2023. Or those bills could pass and we could have legal sports gambling by the end of 2021, early 2022.

I am hopeful that with somewhat gaming friendly legislature currently in place and overwhelming support of the referendum (think the vote was actually right at 65%), they will be motivated to get this done next session and have it up and running by football season 2021.
