Whining puppy

Got a Siberian Husky puppy a little over a week ago and he's been pretty good so far especially with his crate and not whining.
However I start back work this morning, and last night and all the way through this morning he has non-stop been crying and howling. It's truly unbelievable. This is since about 10:30 last night. Is it possible that he has some inclination that I'm about to start back work and not be home all day with him?
Just wondering what the OT dog crowd has to say

Dogs can sense bad things about to happen. He knows cal is about to leave for the NBA and is trying to warn you

My gsp did that when she was a little pup too. Popped her with a rolled up magazine a when she did it. After a few times I just needed to walk into the room with the magazine and she'd stop. Then she just stopped altogether. Whatever you do, don't give in and let the dog out, or he/she will own you.
Edit- sorry misread the post. Ignore me.

Put the crate next to the bed and cover it with a sheet....leave the leash on and when the whining starts tug it a little and tell him shhhhh....worked with our puppy within a couple of nights

What's the address? I'll get the Leos right away to fix the problem.

If it's still young it needs to hear its mother...one way to deal with that is put an analog clock that ticks near the cage as to mimic the mother's heartbeats.

Get a loud fan or noise machine and let it pass. Only mess with it to bring it outside and let it "potty" bring it straight back inside and out it in the kennel. Anymore discipline or coddling could just encourage the behavior.

This, cover the crate at night.

Should I cover the entire crate? I currently have it all covered except the door.
