Oh lawd... a Grotonpotamus

We always called it Rotten Groton...and we definitely referred to native Groton women as a Grotonpotamus. The area itself was pretty, though. Mystic was nice. Being from SC and dealing with all of that damn snow was culture shock..as were the people. I got tired AF of them asking me to say words bc they liked my accent...or what certain phrases that I'd never thought of as "Southern" before meant. Things like "I reckon" and "I'm fixin' to so and so" or asking for a buggy at the grocery store.

When were you there? The ex was an ET. Never forget when he got his Dolphins pinned. Bruised for a couple of weeks. Ouch.

Growing up in south Louisiana you tend to "Axe" a lot of questions. I got that one thrown back at me a lot when i left Louisiana. "you gonna kill me man by Axing me all these questions." It toke a while but i began "asking" questions shortly after this .

We left in 96 so it wasn't that long before you got there. I know the Groton was decommisioned several years ago. Lots of memories of that place. Waiting at Lower Base for the sub to return after a Med run, which, even though they were longer, I always found easier than Northern runs. At least we had semi-regular communication/familygrams during Med runs. Northern runs, as you well know, were 3 months of basically extremely little to no contact.
