I work in a nursing home.

Is it true the state mandated a no visitor policy today?

A neighbor has a family member at the same place as my grandfather
She was turned away at the door but my mom hasn’t received a call yet

I know ours isn't allowing visitors -- only medical personnel and essential supply delivery personnel are being allowed in. I was there Tuesday and all visitors had to check in and get a badge. This is new as of yesterday. It's likely the norm for now.

I know that our staff has been encouraged to use facetime, skype, other means to keep residents and families connected. All appointments are encouraged to be changed if it can wait or to do it via phone, facetime, etc if at all possible.

I would guess that she should have been informed -- our staff made contact or attempted to make contact with every family member possible. I'd suggest that your mom contact them.

LSUJML, call and ask if you can go there and drop off a good basket ... OR if you by any stretch know an employee that you "trust" meet with them and they can deliver it.

So many of our little people are already pissy and not being able to see their people is going to make them pissier.

I'm honestly worried for my peeps.

If by any stretch you aren't allowed in for his birthday, make a phone call and the Activity Director for sure ought to be able to get with you and him to facetime on the day of. Or the floor nurse, DON or ADON at our facility would absolutely do this BUT I have a feeling they may be swamped.

I hope that he's ok and that this is short lived.
