What about when it’s time to buy groceries?

That's why it can work in NYC and not in Knoxville. Hey, I need to go check my kid out of school, run one of them to the dentist, stop on the way home for lasagna noodles, and they have baseball practice at 6.

That can be done via subway in New York. You'd be miserable doing that here. It would be your entire day, or you could just buy a vehicle and drive.

It wouldn’t just be miserable. It would be damn near impossible in the vast majority of cities.

You are just fat for not wanting to bike 45 miles per day with your kid on your handlebars

The more lanes, the more people decide to take it. Look at the Katy Freeway.

You can’t induce demand that is already there.

This horse apples argument against investing in highway infrastructure has been disproven time and time again in cases like Louisiana, where there is no danger of the state even keeping up with capacity demand much less having so much capacity that they can induce more demand.

I'll never understand why y'all extrapolate the argument "we need better public transit"

That wasn't this jackwagon's argument though,

It was "baton rouge needs to build a massive system for people to bike to work and play."

Are you talking about the stretch between Las Angeles and Jacksonville?

I-10 will be 6 lanes from 210 on the west side of Lake Charles to the Texas state line in a couple of years

It won't be long for I-10 to be at least 6 lanes from the Louisiana border to SH 71 (Austin/San Antonio split) west of Columbus... 75 miles west of downtown Houston. And it will be 6 lanes from Seguin to Boerne too...

I-45 is 6+ lanes from Galveston to Huntsville and from 20 miles south of Corsicana to Dallas...

I-35 is 6+ from south San Antonio to Dallas/Fort Worth split at Hillsboro and eventually all will be that wide to Oklahoma border... now if they could figure out what to do with that Austin traffic shite show...
