At this point some enterprising young dude ought to try it as a social experiment. Pick some high profile woman and just claim something and see if the same standard applies...
But I hope no one does that because that is equally as fricked up.
Maybe if the woman is a horrible person it'd be ok, but still. I don't want to stoop to that level.

None of this is to say that guys that behaved truly badly should not be called out. but simply believing ANY woman about ANYTHING just because she claims it has got to stop.
Exactly.
There has to be some sort deterrent to false claims and currently there is absolutely none. Even women that have been proven to be liars have had no repercussions. That girl at UVA who was on the cover of Rolling Stone, got people fired, male students harassed and berated in the national media, and a fraternity kicked off campus ended up having no penalty for her false claims.
Truly unbelievable.

It still dominates the news though
Only 3 in 10 Americans consider the American media trustworthy. What the media reports has little correlation to the feeling of the general public.

I think the Azi Ansari story started the slow build-up to people not giving a shite about it without actual evidence.

stop watching the news, get off social media, read books or books on tape, start a new hobby...happier.

I actually listen to NPR news which is the news minus 90% of the sensationalism. And even they report on allegations as fact before they are proven.
Knowing what is going on in the world is important.

innocent until proven guilty or having an actual trial is so last century.
Meh, it's hard to take this defense seriously when people are so picky about when it applies. No one was arguing Jared from Subway was innocent until proven guilty at his trial.
The metoo movement has jumped the shark, but not for the reason you stated IMO.

There's a difference here. Yes, people called him a pervert before convicted, but he had actual charges and evidence against him that the public was privy too and formed an opinion from.
That is not the case for 99% of these #MeToo claims.
ETA:
And it was child porn, not a guy asking a girl out too many times or trying to kiss because he misread the signals she was giving.

I get all of that, and I know the example was extreme, but you have to admit that the innocent until proven guilty line is only used when it's convenient.
