I still call my MIL and FIL "Mr" and "Mrs" follies by their first names.

I live in TX and have been told that is a very Louisiana thing to do

A person you don't know well, Mr. Last Name. An older person you know well, like a friend of your parents, Mr. First Name.

We didnt, my 4 year old calls people mister or ma'am if he doesn't know their name, says yes/no ma'am/sir like he doesn't know any other.

I prefer the sopranos, but I like BE a lot.

Not always by last name. I call my 75 year old neighbor Mr Sean. My kids call all adults Mr or Mrs (excluding family)

People prefer being called by their first name for some reason. If you went around trying to do this you would find many people saying "just call me ____" (first name).
