Update: they have paused membership sales to “develop more cost effective alternatives”

Glad that enough people got pissed off to make them reconsider it.

You always hear about out of touch executives, but how could they expect such drastic price increases to happen without a fight.

Regardless of what they do, I’m sure they will still lose a significant percentage of their paying members

Dear Audubon Members,

We thank all those who have provided feedback on our Membership pricing. We are temporarily pausing the sale of Memberships in order to develop more cost-effective alternatives in addition to the Audubon All Access Membership.

We are working to have those available by mid-December and will communicate with existing members once the solutions are confirmed, and the system reconfigured.

If you purchased a membership since November 28th, our team will communicate to allow you a different choice should you so wish.

If your membership expires before the system is again live, we welcome you to visit in the interim as our guest.

Thank you for your valued support.

They will probably come up with some membership models like weekend/private event exclusions for lower tier memberships; memberships that are good for certain months of the year (I think the Taylor school memberships were regulated to this); weekday or weekend only memberships; members get deeply discounted admission like 5 or 10 dollars; park specific memberships; or no more membership discounts for tram, restaraunts, or gift shops unless you go for a higher membership tier.

If the zoo is looking for ideas I just gave you some. So please forward a free membership to me if you use any of my ideas.

All good ideas. They also need to consider including some of these experiences with the price of a membership; or at least include it with the higher tier membership. Saving $25, while still paying $75, to have an up-close 30-minute experience with the white rhinos probably won't garner much attention.

We went to the Aquarium while in town last Christmas and I didn't remember it being so small and uninteresting. It felt way less impressive than I last remember and they were missing animals that used to be there.
