Anything off of Social Distortion's self titled album. Was actually out doing some yardwork yesterday and "Story of My Life" started playing. I was mentally checked out for the entire like 5 minutes of that song

Mentally checking out is the point of yardwork...but I feel that "Story of My Life" though

fair point, let me re-phrase to "mentally taken back to 2001 cruising around in my 86 Honda accord, blaring Social D and The Misfits, thinking we were the most punk rock guys in the world". Good times.

Coolio: Gangsta’s Paradise
Warren G: Regulate
Not sure why, but these stick out from right after I graduated.
Journey: Don’t stop believing.
From when I was young..

Eye In The Sky by The Alan Parsons Project
and
Sweet Freedom by Michael McDonald
I truly miss the 80’s and couldn’t imagine having to grow up in different era. It was an amazing time to be a kid and I feel sorry for today’s youth that they will never experience anything close to the freedom we did in the 80’s!

There’s a shitload for me, but one i heard recently:
Green Day - Good Riddance
Brings me back to the days where I didn’t have a care in the world, and the biggest problems in life were, who was gonna drive who and which girl I was gonna ask to the next dance.

Not just a single song but an artist: Bob Seger.
"Twenty years now, where'd they go?
Twenty years, I don't know"
"Seems like yesterday, but it was long ago..."

quote:I don’t know if one song encapsulates the transition from junior high school through high school graduation when music was such an integral part of our lives. Some capture summer. Some evoke fall, winter and spring classes and sports and all have some connection to girls. There’s quite a few songs for me.
Knights in White Satin is one that always brings me back to my early days lying in bed at night with my little AM radio on listening to WTIX, the mighty 690. They played the long version every night about the time I was going to sleep.
I likewise spent many a night tuned in to ‘TIX on my radio and I was always turning the dial back and forth between ‘TIX and New Orleans’ 50,000 Watt Blowtorch WNOE.

I was a 13 year old 8th grader at Our Lady of Good Counsel school in December 1964 or January 1965. My Dad was driving me to play in a CYO basketball game when WABC NY played "My Girl" by the Temptations. I remember looking at my Dad and saying, "This is the greatest song I ever heard."
While it has applied to many girls over my lifetime, I still love this song:
My Girl, The Temptations
And I still remember the moves from the video.
ETA: I remember the moves - I could never do them!
