The park is awesome. We took the kids on the 5 mile trail and they loved that. The spray park also cool. I'd stay out of the river (on tubes) with the kids but that's just me.
They do rent canoes. Check the in and out points. I remember thinking the kids couldn't walk that far and we would have to drive somewhere.

Somebody drowned in it just last week. The current isn't that strong but it's got those suction holes that always get the dumbasses. I grew up on the river. Just make sure they stay on the tube and they'll be fine. There will be some parts you actually have to stand up and walk through
