It's still a problem even up to the newest generation. Just got a set of non-chrome-capped-covered lugs off Ebay so I don't have to deal with this again.

I have a set I'll sell you for $40 if you pay the shipping too. I bought them to replace the ones on my 2016 f-150 and before they were delivered an illegal totaled the truck after she ran a fricking red light and hit me.

They swell because Ford is cheap and designed two part lugnuts that let moisture in that rusts causing them to swell.
