The dealership let us keep my wife's Camry over a weekend before we made the final decision. This is actually pretty common.

Tell them you are interested in the "puppy dog" close.
You'll get a vehicle to keep overnight and maybe through the weekend to test drive.

Tell the salesman that you will only consider a purchase with an extended test drive.
