My longtime buddy's younger brother has a son named Alaric. They're a musically inclined family and at 10, young Alaric was quite the guitar player. The last time I saw him was day after Thanksgiving, 2011. We had the family ensemble to accompany Mathieu's raping of the Hogs.
I'm a history buff, and I've always loved Alaric. History books are a great place to find names that are a little different but obviously not "trendy"

Pretty solid chance that your neighbor is also a USSSA baseball "coach".

I know a Jew named Jacob.
He's not here right now, on a plane.

Buncha damn try-hards these days naming their kids stupid shite like Liam, Aiden, Carson, Jayden, etc.

Some of the more famous Carsons were born in 1973 (Carson Daly) and 1979 (Carson Palmer). Liam Neeson was born in 1952, Liam Gallagher was born in 1972, and Liam Hemsworth was born in 1990.
If you think Carson and Liam are terrible names, that is fine, but don't act like they're something that was pulled out of thin air in 2016.

And from my experience...so timeless that it doesn't feel like an adult name.

Do you feel similarly?

Seriously though, if I have another son I'm going with Meshach.
I've been making serious efforts to get my wife on board with D'Artagnan.

You could go by Jake, wear khakis, take calls at 3 in the morning.

we have 4 couples we know, and each of them have a son named Jaxon.
What an interesting way to frame that sentence. What are the chances of someone only knowing 4 couples AND each of those couples having a son named Jaxon.

Massa
so people have to call him "Massa"

Depends. Jacob is more appropriate for an adult IMO, but to each his own. Jake is fine for growing up and family/friends, but the full name has a bit more authority.

None of this means the names haven't become trendy.

Oh, I agree, but a few of the ones that get lumped in with those trends have been around for a long time.
Isabella is a widely popular name for girls, and it is trendy AF since it was basically non-existent between 1935 and 1990, but I wouldn't consider it in the same ballpark with something like Addison for a girl.
