I am going to build a rental house about a mile from my home. There aren't any close neighbors and I need something for surveillance of the building materials and house.

I'd like something I can monitor in real time, but my crappy internet service in this rural area may make that tough.

When you say wireless, you know you will still need electricity through a wire, even though the signal will be wireless.

I know there are some wireless security type cameras. Arlo makes some, but I'm not sure how close to the base the cameras have to be.

If you are simply trying to catch a lumber thief, set up two trail cams. Make one of them really obvious (and cheap) so the thief thinks he's stealing the evidence, then you get him on the hidden one.

I’ve had Blink XT for about 6 months.

Love them.

Running on batteries that they came with 6 months ago. Supposedly will last a year on a couple of Lithium AAs.

Takes about 20 minutes to have the whole system up and running.

Have had zero issues.

Highly recommend.

For my house I chose Calgary cctv systems, these cameras are one of the best on the market. CCTV Camera Systems include IP Dome Cameras, Bullet Cameras, Camera Mounts, Joysticks & Controllers, Video Monitors, Storage Cabinets and Digital CCTV Recorders.

I bought some wireless cameras from wal mart for the very same reason. But I used WiFi from my neighbor and it was good service. If the internet is crap, you may be frustrated

wireless camera system

This is battery powered, that only turn on when motion is sensed to conserve battery. Lasts about 3-6 months in between charges. Also has good night vision range. I believe the base to camera has about a 400ft range. I'm thinking about getting one of these systems for my house.
