I think it would have been great moment for Beyonce' to take the stage and tell Adele, "Thanks, but you did deserve it. We as a race are sometimes unfairly overlooked, but this is not one of those instances. I appreciate you admiration and want you to know that I feel the same way about you. Blah blah blah, girl power, blah blah blah."
