That might've been what they were worried about because they didn't know that child abduction and violent crime were soaring.

These days we have way lower statistics in both yet parents put their kids in bubbles.

Thanks internet.

That's just it, our parents didn't put us in bubbles. I didn't see any increase in violent crime compared to now and I don't know anyone who was ever abducted. All that was on the picture box, Adam Walsh and those that followed. Doom and gloom rule the airwaves now.

I'm 30 and a millenial and we didn't have cell phones in elementary school (got one in 8th grade and I was one of 3 or 4 kids in my grade with one).

The internet wasn't what it is now either.

We essentially had the same shite happen as you with the urban legends. All of the things you listed, we believed just with slight alterations.

Wendy's had fingers in their chili, if you licked an envelope you'd get roach eggs in your tongue, lil kim had cum in her stomach, etc.

That and Middle Eastern Muslims were hijacking airliners. They hadn't thought about flying them into buildings yet.

Drug dealers were giving kids hits of acid on blue star blotters.

This is 100% true. In fact the "man" would past thru New Orleans all the time when a 4 way hit of window pane would sell for $1.00. Blotter acid was free. FACT and who was "the man", to this day, I still don't know, but had some real good trips.

The fact that I, a person born in 1988 who had a childhood without cell phones and internet everywhere, am considered the same generation as a person born in 2000 who had iphones in middle school, is fricking ridiculous.

Our childhoods aren't remotely similar. My childhood was much more similar to someone who was born in 1976 than 2000.

There wasn't a whole lot to worry about in 79'.

Gas shortages were about #1 worry of most adults.
