I only applied to LSU and Ole Miss. Thankfully I went with LSU.
If I could do it again, I would have applied to Washington, Colorado, Oregon and Texas and go from there.

LSU without a doubt.
I was the 3rd generation graduate from LSU dating back to when it only took $18 and a birth certificate for my Grandfather to attend.
Grew up hearing Tiger Stadium in my back yard. Always knew I'd be a tiger!!

MIT. I went to Boston and loved it. Just couldn't afford it so I went where I had a scholarship.

Mine was UCSB
My alma mater. But I went there right after the riots, so they let in anyone who had the (then) paltry tuition fee. Basically, I was there during the halcyon days, before the school took academics seriously. I'm pretty sure I graduated, but I don't remember the major.

The Derek Zoolander School for Kids Who Can't Read Good. Couldn't get my ACT score up.

Can la tech be considered a dream school? It was more of a place I knew I'd go to just to get out of br

Growing up, the idea was always to just go to college. I didn't even realize that there was that much of a difference when it came to getting accepted to schools. I knew I had the grades to get into La Tech and LSU (was going into aeronautics or engineering), so I didn't put much thought into it after that.
I really wish I would have started as soon as I hit high school to shoot for more highly ranked engineering schools (Georgia Tech, Standford, MIT, Cal Tech etc.). I really feel like I could have gotten into a better school if I would have put in the effort. Just wasn't thinking of it at the time. Not that it's necessary to get that education to have my job (I work next to a few Georgia Tech and Stanford grads), but it would have been a cool experience. I love LSU, but outside of the social aspect, it's a pretty blah shool.
To be honest, after the whole acceptance thing, I don't think schools differ much when it comes to course material. At least with engineering. Schools are ranked a lot on research and difficulty getting in.

Didn't really have a "dream school" until I was discharged from the Army. It was the University of Washington, only school I applied to for my professional degree. Worked hard and got in.

I didn't really have one coming out of high school because I never considered out of state schools. However, after living in the Northeast for the past several years I realize that I screwed up. I will not make that mistake with my kids.

Vanderbilt, probably would have gotten in, but no way I could afford it. Could have gone there for law school as well.
