Graduated from LSU in '88 on ROTC scholly.... Knew I was gonna be stationed in Germany...land of the Autobahn with (at the time) many parts of it no speed limit; so I built a "lieutenant-mobile;" Brand new '88 Mustang LX w/ 5.0, and modified with: a Ford Motorsport competition clutch, JBA "shorty" headers, a Shelby mass air flow sensor, as well as much larger ford Motorsport front brake vented rotors and pads, and a ford Motorsport speedometer that measured 160mph....(back then the stock speedo topped out at 85mph, b/c of hangover from the old 55mph speed limit)... Anywho, with those minor mods, I was clocked at a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed on Autobahn A-7 of 154 mph sustained for almost a minute. I know a lot of modern cars can do better than that, but damn that was a FUN car to drive at the time in Germany!!

Buddy of mine's. He sold it too. Was a 2006 GT, pretty much full bolt-ons (no motor work) and it ran consistent 12.40's on radials.

When did that change? I left in '06, and there were still huge portions of the Autobahn that were unrestricted. There were 'suggested' speeds in a lot of areas, and speed limits in some.

86 Toyota Supra.

Hit 142, do not want to go that fast again in a car.

That's about what my 93 coupe would have done in a quarter. (I think)

It ran 8.00 in the 1/8 @ 88 mph on wore out sportsman pros.

306 with trick flow heads
Shorty equal lengths
BBK SSI intake with matching TB
Earson cam 565 lift, cant remember duration
Big mass air
Off road h pipe and flows
3.73 gears
ProMotion T-5 tranny

Should have kept it, it was a factory 5.0 5 spd car with solid black interior.

It had 140 speedo, went way faster racing another Stang one day. I guesstimate by RPM and MPM doin between 155 and 160, and was still pulling when I let off.

Yep, probably should have kept that one lol.

It's funny because I never see old 5.0 cars on the road...but when I got to the local 1/4 mile track, they are everywhere. Great budget racecars.

I could probably buy it back, but I would have to take a fricking on the price.

I also had, at the same time, a 79 Malibu that ran 7.50s in the 1/8 on motor.

406 with brodix 180 cc runner heads (too small)
crane 292 cam
long tube headers and flows
victor jr. intake w/750 double pumper
700R4 built w/shift kit and 2500 stall
3.73 gears w/Detroit locker
150 shot of jizzum (never sprayed it though)

I would like to have seen what it would have done on the spray.
It was a dependable daily driver with slicks, jack, tool box, and bottle in the trunk. Drive to any track, change tires, race, change tires back, and drive home.

Both the Stang and the Malibu were full weight. No weight reductions in any way.

My current car, a 2009 911 Carrera, is the fastest I've owned. My previous, a 2010 Transformers Edition Camaro 2SS, would easily give it a run in the quarter mile, but the 911 tops out around 25 mph higher.

I want to upgrade to the 911. But until then I'm stuck with the poor man's equivalent....

This doesn't measure up to the classics in this thread. But I've really been enjoy it. Awesome car.
It wasn't necessarily my personality upon purchase. But the interior features are as good as it gets, not to mention the power.

Day after I bought it:

Speaking of Regals, I've always wanted a Grand National or GNX.
Them mofos look so sinister especially with dark window tint.
