That is the one! Papa Joe's. Blue Light isn't on California or wasn't. It was right behind the Texaco but before those apartments.

What does it say about us when asked about things to do our only recourse is to recommend places to eat?

Its more of what it says about Ruston. Don't get me wrong Ruston is a great place to get an education and to raise a family, but you better enjoy the outdoors. Other than fishing, hunting, recreation, food, and Tech athletic events it is a very uneventful place.

I've lived in Ruston for 11 years and have never spent so much time at home anywhere else in my life.

I went to the courthouse the other day and saw them getting Newk's ready to go. Someone said it's a knockoff of McAllister's.

No, it is not a knockoff McCallister's. I have had their chicken salad and crab and lobster bisque from the WM location all better than anything I've ever had at McCallister's.

Newks was started by the same guy that started McAllisters. I passed it yesterday and it looked close to opening.

I lived in Ruston for a couple of years during my post college 20's and enjoyed it. Buddy and I lived in a townhouse row that was full of hot girls from Tech and we got in with them and it was like being in college again for a couple of years. Had fun.

Back then it was Ponch for food, beer and darts and Thursday night was pretty great at Rabbs with the Tech girls. Don't know about now but Tech was a suitcase campus back then. Town was dead on weekends.

ETA: Griff's.

Lived there for a year. If you don't hunt or fish...there's a Taco Bell now.

It's a suitcase town like people have said, if you're not from around the area and not over during school it's a ghost town.

With that being said it's a beautiful town and beautiful campus.

IDK - the nearest one is (or was) in West Monroe. I sure wouldn't go over there for McAlister's.
