My 6 year old is swinging a Marucci Cat8 27/17 drop 10. He hits great with it and doesn't need the Cat 9.

If he’s 6 and swinging a 27” bat, it ain’t the bat.

He a beefy 6.

They just entered the metal market the last couple of years. I believe Marucci is making the metal bats for them. I will say, it is the loudest metal *ping* that sold my son on it. He had a Zen composite and he got excited about the loudness of the Vandal.

I guess we can argue semantics, the truth is, a kid who can hit, will hit well with any quality bat. I’ve been around this for 30 years and have seen tons of kids with tons of different bats and the kids who hit the best use a quality bat and have confidence at the plate. Are there subtle differences? Sure. Can you measure that in a 10 year old kid? My n/1 study suggests not. I’ve never really understood this fascination with bats whether they be metal, composite or wood. High school and college teams use whatever bat they are sponsored. People look for an “edge”, the edge is hitting the ball well.

Just finished a practice and had some parents ask about bats. I told them to check out this thread on tigerdroppings.com
