Any over the counter meds that can help or is all that type of medicine prescribed?

It's all prescription. You can plan to be on it for the rest of your life. The good news is that the most common meds are all dirt cheap.

Around 100/60 usually. I was 170/110 at one time. I cut out the alcohol and cigs and changed my diet.

William... There is nothing you can get over the counter... My BP dropped to that low level because of a colon infection. There may be some serious condition you are unaware of going on... The day I went into hospital I weighed 129 lbs. Down from my normal 155. I had a pain in my side and thought it was a pulled muscle and ingnored it, cause I had never been sick before... They drained out a softball size lump of infection from my side because my colon had leaked into my side... GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!

Peej I appreciate your concern but I'm not going to overreact this. This is the first time in years I've checked my BP. I'll watch what I eat the next few weeks. If nothing has changed then I'll head up to the Dr.

Your bottom number, diastolic, which is the pressure of your blood coming back to your heat is the bigger concern.

That view has changed 180 degrees over the last 20 years.

Yup. They sure did... Its amazing the difference made once they did. My a-hole area has showed zero sign of infection at all since they did... Its an adjustment and sucks at first but I am getting better each day.. On Humira now and that should hold off any infection problems.. AND I have worked my way back from 129 lbs and now I am at 150 and still packing the pounds on... Put it this way... I have been put asleep 13 times since last FEB for A number of operations... It has not been pleasant and the OP needs to go to the doctor before something like I went though doesn't happen......

152/76. Lady said it wasn't good. What are some tips to help me lower my BP?

you could google tips to lower blood pressure.

I will answer though.

. there are practical things you can change

if you are willing to change
look at your salt intake.
use less. if you are shaking 4 times, shake twice.

are you sitting a lot, at work and in the car?
figure out ways to increase your small walks.

breathe as slowly as you can. make the out breathe as long and slow as you can. when you inhale, do it fully and slowly.

exercise more. work up to it.
walk.
swim.

look at your life and see what you could do to decrease stress.
move with INTENTION.

Yup... And check your family history of any BP problems.. Genetics could be a huge factor... Now I still smoke but have cut down drastically..went from over a pack a day to about 7-8.. Plus I have quit drinking for over a year... They told me that the beer I was drinking had no effect on my condition.. I was just an unlucky one to get a chronic condition...

Yeah that's where I'm gonna start. If it doesn't go down in a few weeks then I'll go to the dr.

you can get a modern technology cuff for cheap on the internet.

its more comfortable than the hand pump one you would get at the MD.

test yourself a few times a week.

see how breathing deeply for a few minutes beforehand changes the result.
