Truth be told, Buffalo State University and the police force ensure the safety of students.

However, the crime rate at this University remains one of the highest in America.

Thus, this University campus is also ranked as one of the most dangerous in America.

9. New Mexico State University

Crime Rate (Per 10K Students):

Violent: 12.9

Property: 172.4

Student Population: 15,000+

Often shortened as NMSU, New Mexico State University also makes it to this list.

Although the police department in this town does a quite nice job, the crime rate remains high.

With a high rate of property crimes, the NMSU campus is ranked as one of the most dangerous in America.

8. University of California
Location: Berkeley, California

Crime Rate (Per 10K Students):

Violent: 11.5

Property: 183.0

Student Population: 38,000+

Ranging from vehicle theft to larceny-theft and more, this university has been ranking since 2016.

However, they are now more equipped for quick response to most crimes.

Despite that, the crimes that occur in the University are still on the high side.

Ranging from a special helpline to a bomb team with a K-9 unit, this school has taken so many crime control measures.

While they are said to be one of the most promising, they remain one of the most dangerous in the country.

7. University of Maine
Location: Orono, Maine

Crime Rate (Per 10k Students):

Violent: 18.3

Property: 126.4

Student Population: 11,000+

Unlike most schools here, the University of Maine has little involvement with the police force.

However, they have an anonymous program tagged ‘Campus Eye’. Through the years, this campus has experienced a tremendous rate of crimes.

From statistics, the Violent crime rate in this school is quite high. However, so many property thefts also take place.

6. Coastal Carolina University
Location: Conway, South Carolina

Crime Rate (Per 10k Students):

Violent: 12.7

Property: 230.0

Student Population: 10,000+

Located close to the beach, Coastal Carolina University also makes it to this list.

Similar to most schools mentioned here, the crime rate is high in this University.

However, they have a well-trained CHANT Intervention team. This team deals with major safety disruptions, and they also have an emergency text messaging system.

With all these in place, there seems to be little control over the violent crimes at Coastal Carolina University.

However, they continue to record one of the highest rates of property crimes.

5. University of Central Missouri
Location: Warrensburg, Missouri

Crime Rate (Per 10k Students):

Violent: 17.4

Property: 101.4

Student Population: 14,000+

Often shortened as UCM, the University of Central Missouri is also ranked on this list.

So far, this University was the first to employ the Campus Eye safety app.

Also transmitting emergency notifications through TestCaster, so many safety measures are taken in UCM.

However, the current crime rate still brings it to this list of most dangerous college campuses in America.

4. University of California, Santa Barbara
Location: Santa Barbara, California

Crime Rate (Per 10k Students):

Violent: 20.4

Property: 122.6

Student Population: 23,000+

Due to the crime rate at the University of California, Santa Barbara, student engagement in community programs is weak.

Said to be one of the most dangerous universities in America, one can expect crime at almost any moment in this school.

Moreover, they record one of the highest rates of both Violent and property crimes in the US.

So many safety Programs have been developed in this school to reduce the crime rate.

However, the crime rate still surges high.

While there is a possibility that the crime rate will be reduced in this school, it remains a dangerous one as of now.

3. University of Alabama
Location: Birmingham, Alabama

Crime Rate (Per 10k Students):

Violent: 17.5

Property: 192.5

Student Population: 18,000+

Well focused on the use of smart technologies to carry our crime prevention measures, the University of Alabama is indeed on the move.

However, there seems to be a continuously high rate of crime on this college campus.

From stats, both Violent and property crimes often occur on this campus.

Thus, most students are often exposed to sudden dangers.

However, with several safety measures and Programs available, there is not much to worry about.

2. University of California, Los Angeles
Location: Los Angeles, California

Crime Rate (Per 10k Students):

Violent: 20.0

Property: 183.3

Student Population: 42,000+

Often shortened as UCLA, the University of California, Los Angeles is ranked as the second most dangerous college campus in America.

When it comes to violent crimes, this school has one of the highest rates in America as a whole.

Moreover, they have been known for being featured on similar lists over the years.

To many, UCLA is already the most dangerous University in the US.

However, this might not be true. Moreover, they work continuously to reduce the crime rate in this University.

1. Marquette University
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Crime Rate (Per 10k students):

Violent: 16.5

Property: 232.4

Student Population: 11,000+

Featured on the number one spot on this list, Marquette University wins. The overall crime rate in this school is second to none.

While the rate of violent crimes in this school is almost the same as others on the list, the rate of property crimes is second to none.

As we speak, this University has the highest rate of property crimes in all of the United States.

Due to the high crime rates, most parents do not endorse this school for the education of their children.

So far, there have been several safety measures put in place to regulate the crime rates.

However, Marquette University still manages to top the list of most dangerous college campuses in America.

Federal law requires that you have to count things when they are reported (Clery Act)

Both Ohio State and Michigan have like thousands of reports in the last two years from those guys from decades ago that are counting now.

Ohio state had ~2,600 reports attributable to one person over like 40 years in 2020 alone.

Not helpful stats

Isn't that around Ensley and Wylam? Not sure if I've seen the campus but I'm somewhat familiar with the area.

No it was some athletic trainer you know the drill situation. But every single report of any kind whether relevant or not all dropped in a two year span decades after.

Each instance of anything at all listed individually. It's a wild outlier.
