I grew up in a time and place when 99% of people thought it was 100% real. My suggestions that is was staged resulted in many heated arguments, once with the father of a friend who got really pissed at 13 year old me for saying it was fake.

One of my points they had no answer for. You can bet on boxing, but try to go to Vegas and place a bet on the Junkyard Dog or Kamala the Ugandan Giant. But, but.

They would all say now that they knew it was fake all along, but those gullible fricks ate it up with a spoon.

So no cutoff age. We need to be able to spot those people.

I don't get it, but to each their own.

I graduated to actual combat sports.

I see what you’re saying, I guess some individuals find it mentally stimulating.

I've never understood why so many grown adults take such an issue with grown adults enjoying a very popular thing worldwide.

To each their own, Ive never seen an episode of Survivor but I dont knock those who have been there since the beginning.

What you enjoy watching on tv is none of my concern.

I'll admit for me, a lot of it is the nostalgia of it. Some of my best memories growing up are the times I watched live events with my dad and uncle. Plus the times I had with friends in the military when we used to grab a few beers and watch back during the Attitude Era / Monday Night wars with WCW

For a fan, no explanation is needed; for a critic, no explanation will do.

Couple of questions for the pro wrestling crowd.

Is it the "combat" or the storyline?
Did y'all ever try to make the switch to MMA, boxing, kickboxing, etc?

Little bit of both. Watching a guy do a flip and come down with an elbow on someones face or seeing a guy go through a table is pretty cool but it also takes a good storyline to make you become more invested in the outcome.

I watch MMA and Boxing.

My cousin used to wrestle up around Memphis and I asked him how it all worked one time. He said "Of course we know the outcome and we talk to our opponent during the match ect, but a fall from 6 feet, still fkn hurts like a fall from 6 feet." He then proceeded to show me all of the multiple bruises and scars he had collected over the months he was working and showed me some of his matches on video, calling out the parts that hurt
He wrestled one guy who was like 6'10 or so and that guy called his special move "BMF", I asked what the hell does that mean? He said "Bye Mother Fricker" and it hurts like hell.

No doubt it stakes a set of stones to do it. No one should doubt their toughness.

What if you only watch wrasslin from when you were young? I still love the old NWA, Memphis, and Mid South stuff on the WWE network.

Have you watched the documentary, The Resurrection of Jake the Snake? It’s really moving, I think you’d enjoy it.

Yes I did, it was good. He also had a podcast with Joe Rogan that was pretty good as well. I like hearing the old guys tell stories of being on the road, backstage happenings ect.

Definitely the storylines for me. I am not as much of a "workrate" wrestling fan in which I care to see 5 star wrestling matches. I am more about the storylines and drama.

I'll bite.

I respect boxing and MMA, and I'll even care a slight bit about a big fight, but no, on the day to day, I don't have any interest in these two sports.

As far as my passion for pro wrestling, it's the entire package. The matches plus the non-ring drama.
