When I was a kid, my sister took a left turn in the ozark mountains.
The problem was that a left turn sent us off a cliff. Luckily a tree was growing off the side of the cliff.

Head on collision at 75 mph on I-85 on the way to Atlanta by auburn. My 2009 Tacoma saved my life and I walked away with only a sprained ankle. Unfortunately the driver who came across the median and hit me did not make it.

I would bet less than 5% of us REALLY know the true answer to this.

Seeing your life flash before your eyes is a pretty cool experience. Lotta adrenaline.

I was in a non-ejection seat
I hated to doubt you, but looked up the ejection system on the buff. Very interesting and something I didn't know the B52 had as a safety measure. Thank you for sharing and serving.

Oh I have had my life flash before my eyes a few times but I still doubt its the closest I have been to dying. I am sure there are a few situations where if I had made one small different choice I would be dead and I have no clue about it!

Walking home after a party in South Phoenix (about half a mile) some gang member drives up to me and pulls out a gun. He had a passenger who also had a gun. I talked to them for five minutes and it really felt like five hours. They later drove off and I haven't smoked or drank since. I never walk outside after nine.

Was in a couple bad car accidents, def 1 and maybe a second could have been fatal. Topping that, I was accidentally hanged by my neck when I was young. My father had to cut me down.

Our designated driver fell asleep on the way to Mexico, and nailed a tree at 65mph. I broke my back, my ankle, all the fingers on my left hand, and most of the ribs on my left side.

I always think about this concept. Everyone has made seemingly small decisions that they never thought about again that prevented something terrible from happening to them.
Like pulling into a shady place and thinking something doesn't feel right and GTFO of there. Or when a violent crime or terrible accident happens in a place where you were planning to be (or just left).

Man, 90% of these are car stories and yet people are afraid to fly.
I'm glad somebody else notices that. I try to tell my wife that all the time (she's afraid to fly).
The chances of getting killed on the road are infinitely greater because of the assholes you're sharing the road with.

Flipped a car, was ejected out of back windshield as I wasn't wearing a seatbelt

-When I was 9, a drunk driver came into my grandparents' yard and ran me over. Both my pelvic bones were broken, and my left leg was crushed in 7 places. I spent 4 months in a hospital bed. It took me 3 years before I could play sports again.
-When I was 15, me and some of my friends got into a brawl with some dope heads. One of them pointed a gun at me. I thought it was over with.
-When I was 19, an 18 wheeler hit me head on. I didn't have my seatbelt on. If I had, I would be dead. The whole driver side of my truck was gone. The initial impact threw me into the passenger side.

Possibly getting stalked by a lion while camping out in the Serengeti.
It's a long story that I've posted before, but basically my friend and I stupidly went out of our tent before the sun was fully up, heard footsteps behind us along with a deep guttural growl, and somehow managed to walk slowly to an enclosed area without breaking into a run (flight instincts were kicking in).
Later that day we heard a bunch of mom lions making the same noise while feeding their cubs a wildebeest

15 years ago I ate 17 slices of Mr. Gatti's pizza in New Iberia. Years later I worked with a guy who use to work with a pest control place and he said Gatti's was the dirtiest restaurant in New Iberia.

The first time I was ever put behind the wheel of a car to drive on my own. My brother wanted to hang out at his friend's house, didn't want his annoying siblings around, so he gave me the keys, and told me to drive home. It had rained earlier, I spun out on some loose gravel on the road, flipped the car on an embankment, and landed upside down, 20 ft. down in a gulley on top of a 2 ft. diameter metal culvert.
Firearms Instrucor in the military. Little weatherman kid on the line. We go from strong hand supported, to weak hand unsupported, and he put his thumb on the same side of the gun as his fingers. He fired one round of a six round volley and the gun came directly back over his shoulder into my face. I was literally staring down the barrel. He was ejected from the line rather quickly.
Bit by a spider in my sleep. Apparently I am allergic. 3 days later I'm sitting on the couch at my grandmother's waiting for my Mom to show up to drive me to the Dr. as my throat is starting to swell shut and I have to keep taking huge gulps of air to open it up to breath for a couple more minutes.

Car accident when I was 13. Van I was in hit a patch of black ice on I-71 outside Columbus, OH and the car flipped over 4x and landed in the area between the highways. Bruised but basically fine, as was everyone else in van. Someone was praying for all of us, no way all of us should have survived that crash
