A lot of folks have a pretty basic misconception about history. Namely, that history is simply past events.
History requires a person to tell the tale. Otherwise it’s not history.
A past event with no one to tell the story is a lost event. Everything we know about the past is, therefore, subject to the historian/storyteller.
History, by its very nature, is not the truth... nor does it claim to be. It’s the interpretation of past events by a person. That’s all it is.
