ADHD-Inattentive type is prescribed right for the most part. ADHD-hyperactive is over prescribed to make kids zombies.

Oh good. Another thread where the psychiatrist in neuroscientist come out of the woodworks.

Against my better judgement, I'll try this one more time-

I've been on these "evil medications" most of my teenage and adult life. I've tried long periods without anything - that didn't work. I've tried a number of the non-stimulant alternatives - no dice. Vyvanse (and adderall) allows me to be an effective person. I've never, not once ever, gotten a "high" from the meds. Never gotten a "rush" from the meds. It is for this reason that I'd assume people who do, probably aren't really in need of the medication.

Is it over prescribed? Of that I have no doubt (so are antibiotics). But there are indeed people who genuinely benefit from these medications. And far be it for me to try to make medical decisions for someone else.

that sounds like something that someone might say if they happen to be on Adderall. Make a point and feel good about it yet contradict themselves without knowing it.

I know how it is.

no judgement here.

well first of all just because a medication makes you feel a certain way doesn't mean it will have the same effect on someone else.

that part about assuming how some people that feel a buzz off the medication don't really need it?

Yeah.. you're reaching there in my opinion.

Still don't see how I contradicted myself.

I stated that these meds work for me, that they do serve a medical purpose for many people, that they are likely over prescribed but that isn't really my place to make that decision. There's nothing contradictory about any of those statements.
