This is the opposite of my perception based on the people I know in those age groups and my own experience.

18-25 as a young man you feel like the world is yours and there are really no limits. BUT, unless you're wealthy you don't have much money to put your theories to the test. You're limited. Even physically as a fit athetic guy who worked and played sports I didn't peak till my later 20s.

For women, recalling my mother or her friends around her age or any woman in her 40s they weren't all that happy being 40. That's when the grumpies and nagging starts.
