There's the German Shepherd and then there's every other breed of dog. Are you implying German Shepherds are the Master Breed?
it's hard to explain until you've had one to be honest.
i've had lots of other dog breeds as pets as well.

In order:

Blue Lacy

Lab
English Coonhound
Treeing Walker
Beagle
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Black and Tan Coonhound
Mountain Cur
Plott Hound

I love tree dogs, but my old man had a blue lacy that I swear was smart enough to read.

I absolutely love a working dog that’s good at his job. I don’t have any use for a yappy lap dog, but training a pup for a job and watching him grow to be good at it and watching him do it is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever been involved in. I love watching my coon dog lock down on a tree on a cool clear night.

What breeder have done to the german shepherd breed is nothing short of a crime.

Agreed. The show line GSDs are borderline crippled. It's downright terrible to see that happen to such great dogs.

I believe it. Never had a German Shepard, but have had cousins and friends that did. Love them. Boxers are incredible family dogs and great protectors as well.

get the lab. you'll want a dog that lives longer for your first- logically speaking.

but just so you know, honestly, my heart says get whatever makes you happy.
if you're ready for a dog, it won't matter the breed.

Mine was so in sync with my emotions, habits, etc. Their loyalty and understanding of the owner is truly one of the amazing things in their world. My mom said she swore mine could read minds

Ours no lie knew my wife was pregnant a couple days before we did. When she laid down at night he'd jump up and listen on her stomach. He did it every night for the whole pregnancy. When the baby came, it was almost like they were old friends. One of the coolest things I've seen.

Same with bloodhounds. There are some good working lines of bloodhound still out there but generally they are sloppy inbread saggy worthless unhealthy idiots.

I had a real working bloodhound gyp who was a damn good dog but too high powered for what I wanted to do with her. She now lives on the King Ranch in Texas catching pigs.

Yeah, they are awesome. Personally had boxers and border collies and they are the same way. Mom has always had yellow labs and I can't think another dog besides a rescue mutt I would own.

Mine would go to the door about ten minutes before I got home from work and wait. She was pissed if I were late.

She seemed to know if you were sick, sad, having a bad day.

i got lucky. my girl is 12 and shows very few minor pain issues. that being said, because of her breed- she won't show her pain in obvious ways.

mine talks allllllllll theeeee timmeeeeeee. whine whine whine whine. she uses her squeaker toys to try and join in conversations i might be having around her. the level of higher cognitive thinking kind of scares me a bit.

one time i was looking at her, and she was looking at me- and i said, "dog4, you know everything about me, and i know nothing about you."
she's been a total creep ever since.

People don’t deserve dogs, there’s no doubt about that. A bad dog sucksssss but a good dog is irreplaceable.

I’ve had hunting dogs my whole life and I don’t ever see myself being without at least one. There’s a really unique bond between a good person and a good dog.
