Bienville - WTF is a French name doing up there?

St. Helena - close to BR, yes, but Greensburg is the parish seat? Admit that you've never heard of Greensburg before just now.

Catahoula - Harrisonburg? GTFO. And it can't even claim its namesake lake for its own.

Caldwell - without the McKeithens, I might not even believe it existed.

Allen - it's in South Louisiana, but shares very little South Louisiana sensibilities. If not for the Oakdale uprising in 1989, this would be the first time you ever heard of it.

I wouldn’t call Cameron obscure but it is unique in that it is one of the largest in terms of square miles but one of the least populated.

St. Martin - it is divided in two.

ETA: I guess the answer is "Part of St. Martin"

that area north of Lake Charles, south of Toledo Bend and west of Laffy is terra incognita to me.

That makes it famous, not obscure. I will give you that the exclaved portion does not appear to have any named settlements.

Yep. It's parish seat is just a "census designated place" of only 400 people.

If you would tell me that there are 28 people in Tensas Parish total, I would believe you.

The three most northeastern parishes (East Carrol, Madison, and Tensas) are hemorrhaging population. Outside of a few old-money families, it's nothing but ghetto dying towns.

The Harrisonburg Road used to connect the Natchez Trace to the El Camino Real. Every who was anybody in the history of the Old Southwest traveled that route. Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, you name them.

We could hear them raising hell over there but we'd have to drive 45 minutes to get there.

Yeah. Probably better to just mind your own business over in Quaid.

Its has tons of hills and an old civil war site with memorials called Fort Hill that’s pretty interesting. They used to do re-enactments there and was pretty cool. I don’t think they do anymore but I may be wrong. It’s VERY hilly with some cool scenery and creeks to swim in. Has one of the oldest courthouses in the entire state and a pretty creepy hanging chamber up on the very top floor that people claim is haunted. It’s pretty close to 100% white with your typical small town bible thumpers. Decent school. Virtually no crime. Everyone knows everyone type of place. Not paradise but I can think of worse places to grow up. Very good hunting and fishing in the area.

I grew up on Tew Lake. (Between Jonesville and Harrisonburg). Right by there.

So I guess Catahoula doesn't make your obscure list.

Your Concordia buddies across the way are pretty obscure too.
