I've had my Christmas present for like a month. I just buy myself something expensive whenever I want to, and if it's close enough to the holidays, I tell my wife it's my Christmas present so that she doesn't get mad.

We only have a joint savings account, everything else is separate. It is what works for us and keeps us from fighting over money.
The way we are though...if we want something...we go buy it. So it makes buying gifts for one another difficult. The only time we give a heads up to one another is if we are buying something say over $200-300. Then we discuss it together.
Last Christmas both of us wanted fitness watches (I wanted an Apple watch and he wanted a more expensive Garmin). We just decided to buy the watches for ourselves and consider it our Christmas. The whole gift giving at Christmas when married sometimes seems silly to me anyways. I'll spend X amount on your gift and you spend the same on mine. Why not just buy what you want for yourself instead and call it even?

That’s what I’ve been preaching to my wife. Hell, I think it would be more fun to just take a day and go shop together and get exactly what we want, but she wants to open presents on Christmas Day.
What’s also annoying is she went and shopped for me, but then we’re laying in bed on Black Friday and she goes on Target’s website and says hey, I know you’re behind and haven’t bought me anything. I want this Apple Watch. Then she just sits there while I order one of her gifts, and I’m still clueless about what she’s got me.

Well, since I'm a grown adult that can by himself whatever he wants through out the year I think I will hold off on purchasing anything for myself. The next couple of days after Christmas I will look at my kids and say "Yep, Dads don't ever get anything " Hopefully my 9 year old feels sorry for me and let me play with his toys.

No idea. Didn’t ask for anything. I am an adult. I buy what I want. Will probably get gift cards and a sweater
